Daihatsu Maintains Strong Position as Second Best-Selling Car Brand in Indonesia

Jakarta – Daihatsu has solidified its position as the second best-selling car brand in Indonesia, maintaining this record for 17 consecutive years. In 2025, the Japanese automotive manufacturer reported retail sales of 137,835 vehicles [Daihatsu Indonesia].

Commercial Vehicles Drive Sales

Despite being recognized for its presence in the low-cost green car (LCGC) segment, Daihatsu’s sales in Indonesia are primarily driven by its commercial vehicle offerings. The Gran Max series continues to be the company’s best-selling product [Daihatsu Indonesia].

PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) reported significant demand for the Gran Max, leading to a pivot system to manage orders. “We have quite a lot of customers who trust us, both very large companies and as well retail customers. In fact, we currently still have a lot of pivots. Thank you for the customer’s trust,” stated Marketing and Corporate Communication Director of PT Astra Daihatsu Motor, Sri Agung Handayani [Daihatsu Indonesia].

Passenger Vehicle Performance

Daihatsu also demonstrates strong performance in the passenger vehicle segment. Sales of the Daihatsu Sigra and Ayla reached 47,901 units in 2025 [Daihatsu Indonesia]. This achievement reinforces Daihatsu’s dominance in the Indonesian LCGC market, holding a 36.6% market share.

Growing Demand for the Terios

Sales of the Daihatsu Terios are also experiencing growth in several regions, maintaining strong demand. ADM identifies the Terios as its third best-selling model, particularly in areas with challenging road conditions [Daihatsu Indonesia]. “Thirdly, our Terios X really dominates in several cities with challenging road terrain and it really accepts Terios,” Agung concluded.
