Daniel Zizka to Represent Czechia at Eurovision 2026 in Vienna

Czechia has selected 23-year-old singer Daniel Zizka to represent the nation at the 70th Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, Austria, this May. Zizka will perform the song “CROSSROADS.”

Rising Star in Czech Music

Zizka is already recognized as a compelling voice in the Czech music scene, having been highlighted by Headliner magazine as a future talent. His ability to combine mature vocals with authenticity was a key factor in his selection by Czech broadcaster ČT.

ČT’s Selection Process

According to Kryštof Šámal, Head of the Czech Delegation for the Eurovision Song Contest, the selection process was particularly striking. “When Daniel came into the studio and sang his song straight through on the first try with absolute ease, the room fell completely silent. Not because he was loud, but because he was completely focused and confident. The performance was disarming – technically precise, yet full of emotion. It was clear we were watching an artist who knows exactly who he wants to be,” Šámal stated.

ČT received 260 song submissions during an open call that ran from September to mid-October. These entries were evaluated by a combination of experts and public voting.

Zizka’s Vision for Eurovision

Zizka expressed his excitement about the opportunity, emphasizing his desire to bring music and emotion to the Eurovision stage. “I don’t want to compete hidden behind flashiness and spectacle. I want to stand firmly behind who I am as an artist,” he said.

Michal Utíkal, Head of Media and Creative Producer for Czechia, noted that the Czech delegation is taking a unified approach to the contest this year, with all media outputs – from photography and graphic design to the music video and staging – incorporating a leitmotif symbolizing Zizka’s journey.

The music video for “CROSSROADS” will premiere on the Eurovision Song Contest YouTube channel on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. The Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Vienna, Austria, from May 12 to May 16, 2026, with semi-finals on May 12 and 14 and the grand final on May 16.
