The Grand Slam of Curling Masters event continues its second day at Co-op Place in Medicine Hat, Alberta, featuring 16 men’s teams and 16 women’s teams across four daily draws, thegrandslamofcurling.com reported.
Scotland and Italy Meet Again After European Championships
Team Grant Hardie of Scotland and Team Stefano Spiller of Italy face off in the early afternoon draw at 12 p.m. EST (11 a.m. ABT) during the second event of the Grand Slam of Curling presented by Molson Canadian. Spiller defeated the Scottish rink during pool play last week, but Hardie bounced back to claim victory in the gold medal game at the European Curling Championships.
“We played them twice last week, and they played really well, so we know it’s going to be a really tough one,” said Ross Whyte, who throws fourth stones for Hardie. “Both teams are in the same situation with the jet lag, so you just have to get up for it.”
Homan and Fujisawa Renew Rivalry in Late Afternoon Draw
Canada’s Team Rachel Homan meets Japan’s Team Satsuki Fujisawa at 4 p.m. EST (3 p.m. ABT). Fujisawa swept all three matchups against Homan last season, which included two victories in Grand Slam competition.
Bottcher and Koe Battle in Alberta Showdown
Edmonton’s Team Brendan Bottcher and Calgary’s Team Kevin Koe square off in the evening draw at 8 p.m. EST (7 p.m. ABT). Both Canadian rinks enter the match looking to recover after dropping their opening games at Co-op Place.
