Demons Open Southland home Slate Monday

NATCHITOCHES – The Northwestern State men’s basketball team hopes the final week of 2025 is a great one.

The Demons return to Mike McConathy Court at Prather Coliseum on Monday at 6:30 p.m. to host Lamar in Northwestern’s Southland Conference home opener.

Northwestern (3-8, 1-1) is coming off a strong win, defeating southern-New Orleans 108-55 on Dec. 20,their last game before Christmas break.

“Our guys have been working hard in practice,” said third-year head coach Rick Cabrera. “I told them before the break, ‘Its easier to get out of shape than to get in shape.’ Be ready when you get back after three days, because yoru body won’t respond the same way. It took a couple of practices to get going, but our guys are focused and ready to play.”

Before the break, the demons played one of their best games of the season, showing depth, strong defense, and balanced scoring.
