Animal Cruelty Investigation in Rochester: Dog Found Dead, Four Rescued

Rochester, N.Y. – A dog was found dead and four others were rescued from a home on Third Street in Rochester on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, sparking an animal cruelty investigation led by Lollypop Farm’s Humane Law Enforcement. The investigation began following a request for assistance from the Rochester Police Department, who were initially at the residence investigating a criminal trespass complaint.

Initial Response and Findings

According to Lollypop Farm, Rochester Police observed an animal in distress while investigating the trespass complaint and subsequently contacted humane investigators. Upon entering the home, investigators found four dogs roaming freely and discovered a fifth dog deceased due to sustained injuries. A necropsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. Previous Complaints and Follow-Up

This is not the first time concerns have been raised about animal welfare at this address. Lollypop Farm Humane Law Enforcement investigators responded to similar complaints of neglect at the same home earlier this winter. However, due to the condition of the animals at that time and applicable New York State animal welfare laws, investigators were unable to seize any dogs during the initial visit.
