Warner Bros. Schedules IMAX Double Feature for Dune Saga
Warner Bros. recently announced that Dune: Part One and Dune: Part Two will return to IMAX theaters for one week starting on November 13, 2026, Inverse reported. The theatrical re-release precedes the December debut of Dune: Part Three, offering audiences a chance to watch the previous chapters in large-format cinemas before the new installment arrives. The studio’s screening plan includes a one-night-only double feature event on November 13 that pairs both films together. According to the IMAX website, ticket holders attending these screenings will also receive an exclusive sneak peek of Dune: Part Three.
The Shift Toward Theatrical Re-releases and Major Events
The strategy reflects a broader industry trend of returning older or recent blockbuster movies to theaters as major event programming rather than relying solely on home streaming windows. Similar re-release rollouts have accompanied other major franchises, such as when all five previous The Hunger Games films returned to theaters over five days ahead of Sunrise on the Reaping, or when a new restoration of The Passion of the Christ screened in September ahead of next year’s premiere of The Resurrection of the Christ: Part One.
Marvel Studios employed a comparable promotional tactic earlier this year by re-releasing Avengers: Endgame with four newly added scenes to tease the upcoming story in Avengers: Doomsday. While Marvel integrated new narrative setup footage into an existing film, Warner Bros. is pairing back-to-back screenings of the first two Dune films with direct footage from the upcoming third chapter.
Ticket Availability and December Release Plans
The combined runtime for Dune: Part One and Dune: Part Two spans approximately five and a half hours, creating an endurance test for fans revisiting Arrakis on the big screen. Tickets for the November 13 IMAX screenings are on sale now.
The studio has set the wide release of Dune: Part Three for December 18, 2026, a date already dubbed “Dunesday” by fans tracking the franchise rollout. While ticket sales and screening formats are confirmed for the November event, exact details regarding the length and specific contents of the Part Three sneak peek remain unannounced.
