Actress Lisa Faulkner has announced she underwent surgery to treat the early stages of breast cancer. The 54-year-old, known for her roles in EastEnders and Holby City, shared the news on Instagram, confirming that her medical team successfully removed the cancer and that she is now focused on recovery and follow-up radiotherapy.

Faulkner received the diagnosis following a mammogram, which she credits for catching the disease in its early stages. In a statement shared with her 372,000 followers on Tuesday, the actress explained that the procedure took place two weeks ago.
"I’ve had to have surgery because I’ve had the very early stages of breast cancer," Faulkner stated. "I had surgery two weeks ago, and it was quite a big op, but it’s all good, and I’ve had my results back, and they’ve got everything out, and so it’s all clear."
While the surgery was successful, Faulkner noted that she still faces a period of healing and will require radiotherapy in the coming weeks. She expressed gratitude toward the "wonderful NHS" for the care she received during the process.
A public call for medical vigilance
Following her diagnosis, Faulkner urged others not to delay their own health screenings. She emphasized that without the mammogram, the cancer would not have been identified. "I am so grateful that I went for my mammogram," she said. "Don’t put them off, go, because they found this and without that mammogram it wouldn’t have been picked up."

Faulkner’s announcement follows a health disclosure within the UK broadcasting community. Davina McCall, 58, announced that she had received the "all clear" following surgery, after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in October last year. McCall, who also underwent surgery in 2024 to remove a benign brain tumour, has narrated a new short film about the planned Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital. Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital will be a new facility bringing together clinical expertise at Addenbrooke’s Hospital with leading scientists across the University of Cambridge and Cancer Research UK Cambridge Centre.
