Ebba Andersson’s Resilience Shines After Olympic Setback

Val di Fiemme, Italy – Swedish cross-country skier Ebba Andersson demonstrated remarkable fortitude at the recent Winter Olympics, securing a silver medal in the women’s length event despite a challenging race marked by two falls. The incident, which occurred in Val di Fiemme, initially dashed hopes for a fourth Olympic gold for the Swedish team.

Race Recap: A Silver Lining After Difficult Moments

Andersson experienced two crashes during her leg of the race, including a forward roll that resulted in a broken ski. Despite the setbacks, she persevered to support Sweden claim the silver medal. “I became a little cowardly in the downhill and then a second later I took a tumble. It was a bit of a crisis and panic,” Andersson told SVT, as reported by Östersunds-Posten.

Andersson’s Strong Form Leading Up to the Olympics

Prior to the Olympic competition, Andersson showcased impressive form, securing victories in both November 2025. She won a 10-kilometer freestyle race in Gällivare, Sweden, defeating Frida Karlsson and holding off a strong challenge from Jonna Sundling. “Then I hope, of course, that I will get a little more surplus by competing more,” Andersson stated to SVT following her win, according to Östersunds-Posten.

Recent Career Moves and Continued Competition

In April 2020, Andersson made a notable change in her club affiliation, moving from Sollefteå Skidor IF to Piteå Elit. This decision surprised officials at Sollefteå, as noted in SVT Sport. More recently, in March 2025, Andersson announced her participation in the Ski Classics long-distance cup, as reported by Östersunds-Posten, indicating her continued commitment to competitive skiing.
