Auburn Claims Record Third Men’s East Lake Cup Title
Logan Reilly defeated Preston Stout 3 and 2 on Wednesday at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, securing the decisive point for the top-ranked Auburn men’s golf team in a 4-1 victory over No. 3 Oklahoma State. The team win gives Auburn its third men’s East Lake Cup title, moving the Tigers ahead of Illinois and Vanderbilt for the most victories in tournament history.
The Wednesday final rematched the co-medalists from Monday’s stroke-play round. Reilly and Stout both opened the tournament with a 7-under 65, eclipsing the previous 18-hole scoring record of 66 set by Scottie Scheffler in 2016. Reilly played nearly flawless golf across the week, totaling 22 birdies and just one bogey.
Reilly Overcomes Stout in Championship Match
Stout initially seized control of the individual final by building a 2-up lead through the first five holes. Reilly responded immediately by carding four birdies over the next five holes to claim a 1-up advantage. He pressed his advantage down the stretch and closed out the match on the 16th hole.
“The first key out here is putting the ball in the fairway,” Reilly said after the round. “I knew I could attack if I did that.”
Stout acknowledged the putting struggles that shifted momentum in Reilly’s favor. “The putter just went kind of cold on me … Logan played great and didn’t make very many mistakes,” Stout said.
Historical Context for Auburn Golf Program
The Wednesday victory adds to previous Auburn titles earned in 2018 and 2024, maintaining the program’s record in three appearances. Billy Davis also contributed to the championship effort by securing an extra-hole victory in his match.

Upcoming Schedule and Offseason Plans
Following the conclusion of the East Lake Cup, Stout travels directly to Mexico to compete in the VidantaWorld Mexico Open on the PGA Tour.

Auburn concludes its fall slate at the Steelwood Collegiate, scheduled for Oct. 31 through Nov. 1 in Loxley, Alabama.
