Emre Belözoğlu Dismisses Fenerbahçe Link After Kasımpaşa Draw
Kasımpaşa manager Emre Belözoğlu stated that campaigning for the Fenerbahçe managerial position is inappropriate, addressing speculation following his side’s 2-2 draw with Beşiktaş in the Trendyol Süper Lig. Speaking to A Spor, Belözoğlu emphasized that individuals do not apply for the post at the Istanbul club, but rather get selected by club leadership based on trust and performance. He further noted that entertaining such a role while under contract would be disrespectful to his players and club.
The remarks arrived after Kasımpaşa secured a point at home during the 10th week of the Turkish league season, overcoming a two-goal deficit against Beşiktaş. Belözoğlu, a former player for Fenerbahçe across multiple seasons, clarified his stance on historical ties to the club versus his current professional duties at Kasımpaşa.
The Kasımpaşa Match Performance and Referee Criticism
Kasımpaşa fought back from a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 with Beşiktaş, displaying a strong tactical response in the second half. Belözoğlu noted that his team created clearer chances than their opponents, despite what he described as critical officiating errors. He pointed out that Beşiktaş avoided receiving two red cards during the first half and questioned why one of Kasımpaşa’s goals was disallowed, arguing that the referee’s performance directly altered the course of the match.

Reflecting on the early stages of the season, Belözoğlu stressed that his primary focus remains entirely on Kasımpaşa’s campaign. He praised the squad for building a competitive unit despite being newly formed, noting that the current league standing brings optimism for upcoming fixtures. Emphasizing that his sole intention is for Kasımpaşa to finish with a successful season, he highlighted that the team’s objective is to win every match.
Fenerbahçe Management Standards and Personal History
Addressing questions regarding a potential return to Fenerbahçe, Belözoğlu detailed his perspective on how managerial appointments should occur at elite Turkish clubs. He acknowledged his deep personal history with the club, spanning both difficult and successful periods as a player, but drew a clear line regarding current job vacancies. He explained that a six-year coaching career has taught him that managers are chosen and given confidence by executives rather than campaigning for vacancies themselves.
