Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a 2.5D action RPG developed by ArtPlay and released in 2019. Its heavily inspired by the Castlevania series, especially Symphony of the Night, and falls into the “Metroidvania” genre – meaning it features a large, interconnected map that players explore by gaining new abilities and accessing previously unreachable areas.
players take on the role of Miriam, a shardbinder cursed with a slowly crystallizing body. She must battle her way through a demonic castle and defeat Gebel,her former mentor,to save herself and humanity. Gameplay focuses on a combination of melee combat, ranged attacks using firearms, and the strategic use of “shards” – fragments of demonic power that grant Miriam new skills and abilities.
