Downings Rallies Behind Eric Roberts Ahead of Dancing with the Stars Finale
Downings, County Donegal, showed overwhelming support for Dancing with the Stars finalist Eric Roberts on Monday evening, as the Ireland AM presenter prepares for the grand finale this Sunday. Roberts, alongside his dance partner Arianna Favaro, received a hero’s welcome at the Downings GAA centre.
Homecoming Event Draws Large Crowd
The event, organized to boost support before the final, saw Roberts and Favaro arrive in style aboard a Mevagh Fire Station truck. They were greeted by a large gathering of family, friends, and enthusiastic supporters. Roberts’ nephew, Oisín, warmed up the crowd with a musical performance before Roberts and Favaro treated attendees to a dance demonstration.
Favaro was also presented with a Donegal jersey, being made an honorary member of the community.
Roberts Expresses Gratitude for Support
Addressing the crowd, Roberts expressed his gratitude for the incredible support he has received throughout the competition. “The support has been absolutely insane throughout the competition and to see it face to face now is incredible,” he said. “I’m aware of the support but seeing it now first hand it’s overwhelming.”
He emphasized the pride he feels representing his hometown. “I have such pride, coming from Donegal, coming from Downings and to have you all here now when we are at the finish line is the cherry on top of the cake.”
Roberts urged fans to vote to bring the Glitterball trophy to Donegal, stating, “We are almost there, we have the last hurdle now this weekend, so if we can get the rally going again, hopefully we can bring a bit of silverware back to the wee village.”
