‘F1: The Movie’ Honored with Cinema Audio Society Award

The sound mixing of Joseph Kosinski’s F1: The Movie received a top honor at the 62nd annual Cinema Audio Society (CAS) Awards, held Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. The film won the award for Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing in a Theatrical Motion Picture.

Recognizing Excellence in Sound

The Cinema Audio Society Awards celebrate the craft of sound mixing in both film and television. F1: The Movie’s winning sound team included Gareth John (Production Sound Mixer), Gary A. Rizzo and Juan Peralta (Re-Recording Mixers), Alan Meyerson (Scoring Mixer), Michael Miller (ADR Mixer), Dennis Leonard (Foley Mixer), and Elizabeth Marston (Foley Mixer).

Other CAS Award Winners

Several other productions were recognized at the ceremony. “The Pitt” took the award for Television Series – One Hour, while “Becoming Led Zeppelin” was honored in the Documentary category. “Adolescence” won for Non-Theatrical Motion Picture or Limited Series, and “Billy Joel: And So It Goes” received the award for TV Non-Fiction, Variety or Music–Series/Specials. “KPop Demon Hunters” was recognized as the best Animated motion picture, and “The Studio” won for Television Series – Half Hour.

Industry Recognition and Career Achievements

Beyond the awards for specific projects, the CAS also presented honorary prizes. Guillermo del Toro, director of “Frankenstein” and other acclaimed films, received the Filmmaker Award, and Skip Lievsay, a veteran sound master known for his work on films like “Gravity” and “No Country for Old Men,” was honored with the Career Achievement Award.

CAS Awards and Oscar Predictions

The CAS Awards are closely watched within the industry, as the winner often predicts success at the Academy Awards. In the five years since the Oscars combined the Best Sound Mixing and Best Sound Editing categories into a single Best Sound category, the CAS winner has gone on to win the Oscar three times.
