Christoffer Andersson Leaves Falkenbergs FF After Securing Promotion
Christoffer Andersson has stepped down as head coach of Falkenbergs FF after five seasons, just days after leading the club to promotion to the top-tier Allsvenskan.
Falkenberg confirmed that the club and Andersson mutually agreed not to extend his expiring contract. The decision follows a 2-1 victory over Sandviken on the final weekend of the season, a result that secured second place in the Superettan and a return to the Allsvenskan for the first time since 2020, according to Falkenbergs FF.
Promotion and Departure Timeline
Andersson took charge during a difficult period following the club’s relegation from the Superettan. Over five years, he guided the squad through a rebuilding phase that included a promotion battle from Ettan Södra before establishing the team back in the second tier. His tenure featured two second-place finishes and a league victory in Ettan Södra, followed by a fifth-place finish and a second-place finish in the Superettan.
Reflecting on his exit, Andersson described feeling proud and emotional after the final whistle. “There were some tears shed after the final whistle on Saturday. I have been able to work with continuity for five years and work with the team and my coaching development,” he told the club’s official website. He added, I leave with my head held high and super proud,
and stated, I want to thank FFF for a fantastic and memorable time in my coaching career. I want to thank co-workers and all fantastic players and coaching colleagues who have all contributed to making this journey possible. Together we have all achieved something quite incredible.
He also noted, I take with me the collaborations we have had in the coaching staff and the club and how the club has supported and made it possible to work with peace and quiet.
Club officials praised the outgoing coach for his dedication during challenging years. “Chrisse came during a tough period for FFF when we had just been relegated from the Superettan. He came with an incredible commitment that was very important for our association,” said club chief Patrik Lundgren, adding that Andersson will always be an appreciated part of the club and that they have shared both challenges and joys.
Future Plans and Unresolved Questions
Sporting director Andreas Jankevics noted that the parties are parting as friends following the conclusion of their multi-year agreement.
The club enters the top flight in 2027 facing preparations for its first season at that level since 2020, leaving the identity of Andersson’s successor currently unconfirmed.
