Italian reports put Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray in the race for Hakan Çalhanoğlu
Italian media reports indicate that Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray are both monitoring Inter midfielder Hakan Çalhanoğlu as his contract situation remains unresolved, A Spor reported. The 32-year-old Turkey international’s future at Inter is uncertain after renewal talks stalled, with La Stampa naming both Turkish giants among the clubs tracking him.
The expectation had been that Çalhanoğlu would extend his stay in Milan, but negotiations have not produced an agreement. Hürriyet reported that the midfielder is demanding terms befitting a top player, including a net annual salary of roughly €6 million and a contract of at least two years, while Inter has taken a cautious approach.
Cumhuriyet cited La Stampa in reporting that Çalhanoğlu’s priority remains staying at Inter, yet the club’s management is weighing his age and recent injury history before committing. The reports say the 32-year-old missed 17 matches two seasons ago and 15 last season with different physical problems.
Inter’s negotiations with Çalhanoğlu stalled
Çalhanoğlu’s contract with Inter runs until 30 June 2027, according to Cumhuriyet, but the club and player have yet to agree on a renewal. Milliyet reported that the midfielder wants his current net salary of approximately €6 million per year preserved in any new deal, plus a minimum two-year commitment.

Inter’s hierarchy has reportedly hesitated over those demands. Fotomaç noted that the club is factoring in both his age and the injuries that kept him out of 17 and 15 matches in his last two seasons at the club.
Why Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray Are Circling
La Sampta, as cited by Hürriyet and Milliyet, reported that Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe are closely following the situation and evaluating a free transfer at the end of the season. Both clubs are said to be prepared to make every effort to bring the experienced midfielder back to Turkey, Fotomaç added.
The interest is not new. Fotomaç recalled that Hakan Safi, who ran for the Fenerbahçe presidency in June and lost, had reportedly reached an agreement with Çalhanoğlu before the election, but the transfer did not materialize after Safi’s defeat.

Italian clubs are also in the picture. Hürriyet reported that Como, where Cesc Fàbregas is head coach and Giovanni Carnevali holds a key sporting role, and Juventus are both following Çalhanoğlu’s contract status. La Stampa, via Cumhuriyet, said both Italian sides could move if Inter does not renew.
Çalhanoğlu’s Season and Market Value
So far this season, Çalhanoğlu has played 12 matches in all competitions for Inter, logging 647 minutes and scoring three goals, according to Cumhuriyet and Milliyet. Transfermarkt-listed figures cited by Milliyet put his current market value at €16 million.
Where the Turkish Rivals Stand in the League
Fotomaç reported that Galatasaray lead the Trendyol Süper Lig with 25 points after 10 weeks, while Fenerbahçe sit sixth with 16 points under interim coach Emre Belözoğlu following İsmail Kartal’s departure.

Clubs Watch for Çalhanoğlu’s Contract Deadline
Cumhuriyet reported that his current deal with Inter expires on 30 June 2027, meaning he could leave on a free transfer at the end of the season if no renewal is signed.
La Stampa, via Cumhuriyet and Fotomaç, reported he wants to keep his net annual salary of about €6 million and secure a contract of at least two years.
Besides Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray, Hürriyet and Cumhuriyet reported that Como and Juventus are also monitoring his situation in case Inter does not offer a new deal.
Whether Inter will agree to Hakan Çalhanoğlu’s demands for a new contract or let him leave without a transfer fee at the end of the season remains unresolved, leaving the midfielder’s next club an open question.
