Florida Adds Gators Legend to Coaching Staff

The Jon Sumrall era at Florida continues to gain momentum with a significant addition to the coaching staff. The Gators are hiring former All-SEC offensive tackle and UF alum Phil trautwein as their new offensive line coach, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Trautwein played a vital role on Florida’s national championship teams in 2006 and 2008, earning All-SEC recognition in both seasons. He’s a proven Gator and a welcome addition to the program.

In 2006, he secured second-team All-SEC honors after starting every game at left tackle. After overcoming a stress fracture in his foot that sidelined him in 2007,Trautwein returned to start 12 games in 2008,earning first-team All-SEC honors. A dedicated student-athlete,Trautwein earned both a bachelor’s degree in 2007 and a master’s degree in 2008 from the University of Florida.

Though he went undrafted in 2009, Trautwein briefly played four NFL games for the St. Louis Rams.
