Peloton and Garmin: A Complete Workout Sync for Enhanced Fitness Tracking
For fitness enthusiasts who utilize both Peloton and Garmin devices, a significant upgrade has arrived: full two-way workout synchronization. Previously limited to sending Garmin activities *to* Peloton, the integration now allows completed Peloton workouts to seamlessly transfer to Garmin Connect, providing a more comprehensive view of your overall fitness and training load.
From One-Way to Two-Way Sync: What Changed?
Initially, the Peloton-Garmin partnership, launched in late 2025, only enabled the pushing of workout data from Garmin to Peloton. This meant outdoor runs and activities tracked by Garmin devices would register in Peloton challenges and milestones. But, Peloton workouts were not reflected within the Garmin ecosystem. This limitation frustrated users seeking a unified view of their fitness data. As of March 2026, that has changed.
How the New Sync Works
The updated integration allows for automatic, two-way synchronization. Completed Peloton workouts now appear natively in Garmin Connect, contributing to key Garmin metrics such as Training Status, Recovery Time, and Training Load. This means your Peloton sessions are no longer “invisible” to Garmin’s training analysis tools.
The sync encompasses all Peloton workout types, including:
- Bike Bootcamp
- Cardio
- Cycling
- Meditation
- Rowing
- Rowing Bootcamp
- Running
- Strength
- Stretching
- Tread Bootcamp
- Walking
- Yoga
Data transferred includes metrics like cadence, calories burned, distance, power (for Peloton Bike workouts), and speed. Even the name of your class instructor is included in the synced data.
Setting Up the Integration
The setup process is straightforward and managed within the Peloton app:
- Navigate to Settings within the Peloton app.
- Select Connected Apps & Devices.
- Choose Garmin Connect.
- You will be redirected to Garmin Connect to authorize the connection.
- Toggle the option to sync from Peloton to Garmin.
The synchronization operates on the backend at the Peloton platform level, meaning it applies to workouts completed on both the Peloton app and Peloton equipment (Bike, Tread, etc.).
Benefits of the Integration
- Comprehensive Fitness Tracking: A unified view of your workouts, regardless of the platform.
- Accurate Training Analysis: Peloton workouts contribute to Garmin’s Training Readiness, Load, and Recovery metrics.
- No Third-Party Tools Needed: Eliminates the need for (and associated fees of) services like SyncMyWorkout.
- Improved Understanding of Well-being: More accurate data leads to better insights into your health and fitness.
Is There a Cost?
Importantly, this enhanced synchronization is not locked behind Garmin’s Connect+ subscription service. Garmin users can access this feature without incurring additional fees.
The two-way sync between Peloton and Garmin represents a significant step forward for integrated fitness tracking, offering users a more holistic and accurate understanding of their health and performance.
