Global Bible Training Institute Completes 24th Graduation Ceremony, Nurturing Faith Leaders for Global Missions
The Global Bible Training Institute (GBTIS), a prominent Christian educational institution, celebrated its 24th graduation ceremony on May 9, 2026, marking the culmination of academic journeys for four students who will now serve as missionaries and church leaders worldwide. The event, held in a spirit of worship and dedication, underscored the school’s commitment to equipping individuals for spiritual service and global outreach.
Graduation Highlights and Key Speakers
The ceremony, attended by graduates, families, faculty, and church leaders, began with a solemn worship service led by GBTIS administrators. Dr. An Kwang-moon, the school’s administrative dean, opened the event, followed by a prayer led by Dr. Kim Sang-jin, the academic dean. Kim delivered a scripture reading from Matthew 6:33 and 2 Timothy 6:12, urging graduates to embrace their roles as spiritual pioneers.
Guest speaker and alumnus Pastor Kim Young-jung delivered a sermon based on Ruth 1:1–5, emphasizing God’s transformative power in overcoming adversity. “Graduates are called to be steadfast in faith, even amid trials, as they step into new ministries,” he said. His message resonated with the audience, reinforcing the graduates’ resolve to serve as ambassadors of the Gospel.
Graduates and Their Achievements
This year’s graduates included four students who completed either a Bachelor of Theology (Th.B.) or a Master of Religious Education (M.R.E.). Among them was Joo Young-sik, who earned his Th.B., and three M.R.E. Recipients: Joo Jong-geun, Kim Joon-young, and Kim Hye-ran. Notably, Kim Hye-ran, a seasoned church worker, balanced her academic pursuits with active ministry, earning recognition for her perseverance.
Dr. Yun Yu-jong, GBTIS’s dean, addressed the graduates during the degree conferral ceremony, quoting Matthew 5:1–5. “May you remain rooted in faith, no matter the challenges you face,” he encouraged. Kim Yong-myeong, a graduate student representative, highlighted the importance of lay theological education, stating, “Today’s graduates are not just pastors but leaders who will inspire communities to embrace their divine purpose.”
Expanding Global Reach and Educational Initiatives
GBTIS has been actively expanding its influence, particularly in Asia. The school has established a collaborative agreement with the Ho Chi Minh City Baptist Theological Seminary in Vietnam, offering hybrid (online and in-person) courses to train local leaders. Currently, 35 undergraduate and 10 graduate students in Vietnam are enrolled, reflecting the institution’s growing international footprint.
GBTIS is strengthening its focus on the DFW (Dallas/Fort Worth) area, aiming to equip Korean church leaders with advanced theological training. The school is also preparing to launch a Korean campus, with enrollment processes nearing completion. Dr. Kim Sang-jin emphasized the need for “a new generation of lay leaders who can drive church growth and community engagement.”
