Real Madrid are reportedly evaluating a move for Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro as manager Jose Mourinho considers options to address ongoing defensive concerns on the right flank, according to Cadena SER. The 27-year-old Spain international has also drawn interest from Barcelona, who have already made enquiries regarding a potential transfer.
Real Madrid’s right-back position remains unsettled despite recent squad investments. Trent Alexander-Arnold arrived from Liverpool in 2025, and Denzel Dumfries joined following Dani Carvajal’s departure. Neither player has secured the undisputed first-choice role, leading manager Carlo Ancelotti to deploy midfielder Federico Valverde at right-back during a recent El Clásico match.
Transfer competition and player preference
Alexander-Arnold has experienced difficulties establishing himself during his second season at the Santiago Bernabéu, sparking speculation over a potential return to Liverpool on a January loan. Against this backdrop, Cadena SER reports that Mourinho could favor signing Porro over retaining Alexander-Arnold in the right-back role.
Porro is well-acquainted with Spanish football and has established himself as a regular starter for Tottenham. His attacking qualities and international experience appeal to Real Madrid, but Barcelona present direct competition. Barcelona representatives have contacted Porro’s camp to discuss a possible move in January or the summer transfer window.

The player’s performances alongside Lamine Yamal during the World Cup have reportedly boosted Barcelona’s appeal. Porro is said to be keen on a return to La Liga due to concerns that Tottenham’s current struggles could negatively affect his status with the Spain national team.
Squad constraints and future decisions
While Mourinho is reportedly open to raiding his former club for the defender, Porro may favor a move to Barcelona. Any potential transfer hinges on Alexander-Arnold’s future in Madrid. If the English defender decides to stay and compete for his place, the club will have no immediate roster space for another right-back addition.
