One Piece reclaims Japan sales crown according to Oricon data

Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece secured 4,211,363 sales in Japan between November 18, 2024, and November 14, 2025, outperforming its closest competitor by over 400,000 copies, GameRant reported based on official figures released by Oricon on October 22, 2026. The milestone marks a return to the top spot for the long-running series after a five-year absence that began in 2019, driven by competition from titles like Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Blue Lock.

Oricon Tally Confirms 2025 Market Shift

Oricon Inc., founded in 1999, tracked the 2025 sales data across a specialized window to capture the annual market performance of Japan’s top 200 manga series. One Piece capitalized on the conclusion of major contemporary rivals such as Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen, which ended in 2024, alongside strong reader engagement with the ongoing Elbaf arc. Despite maintaining a consistent average of slightly over one million sales per individual volume since 2019, the tapering off of rival juggernauts allowed the legendary title to reclaim its dominance in the domestic market.

Sales Projections Point to 2026 Leadership

Data from an August 3, 2026 Oricon report indicates that One Piece has already sold over 3.1 million copies through just three volumes—Volumes 113, 114, and 115—positioning the series to retain the number-one ranking when final 2026 figures are published in 2027. While Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen and the backlog sales of Frieren following its second anime season in January occupy the upper tiers, no active title matches the current sales velocity of Oda’s work.

Upcoming Jump Festa May Reveal New Rivalries

Future challengers to the sales crown include Masashi Kishimoto’s newly announced project, Naruto: Shadow Rising, which received a return announcement on October 10, 2026. Additional details regarding its serialization schedule will emerge at Jump Festa 2027 on December 19, 2026. Among new generation series, Takeru Hokazono’s Kagurabachi is noted as a potential riser, though its ultimate popularity remains uncertain until its anime releases in 2027.
