Robert Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult Reportedly Join Race for Next James Bond

Robert Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult Join Final Screen Tests for James Bond

The search for the next James Bond has moved into its final stages with Robert Pattinson and Nicholas Hoult reportedly completing screen tests for the iconic role, Deadline reported.

Final auditions took place in London in late October after scheduling shifts pushed back the original timeline, according to Deadline. Pattinson and Hoult tested alongside actors Jack Lowden, Josh O’Connor, and Callum Turner. The studio added a fifth screen test at the last minute, though it remains unclear which of the five candidates served as the late addition.

Producers postpone final auditions to late October due to scheduling difficulties

Director Denis Villeneuve, producers Amy Pascal, and David Heyman oversaw the shortlist alongside casting director Nina Gold. The search gathered momentum in spring 2026, leading to initial meetings and a first round of auditions. Scheduling difficulties involving the shortlisted candidates forced producers to postpone the final round from early October to the end of the month.

Pattinson’s inclusion connects him to the search for the next James Bond, alongside other contenders, under the direction of Denis Villeneuve. Steven Knight, creator of Peaky Blinders, is writing the screenplay for the film.

Amazon MGM Studios declines comment on screen test reports

Sources cited by Deadline indicate that an announcement could arrive before the end of November, potentially ahead of Thanksgiving. Whether Pattinson, Hoult, or another shortlisted contender secures the role of 007 remains undecided as the studio finalizes its choice.
