A new docu-film, Life of a Man – Giuseppe Ungaretti, premiered at the MAXXI in Rome, offering a compelling exploration of the life, work, and enduring legacy of one of the 20th century’s moast significant poets, Giuseppe Ungaretti. The film presents a unique perspective on the poet, weaving together biographical details, literary analysis, and personal recollections to create a multifaceted portrait.
Directed by Massimo Popolizio and Mario Vitale, with an original concept developed by Davide Rondoni, the film employs a dynamic approach, blending documentary footage with staged scenes. This innovative technique traces the pivotal moments in Ungaretti’s life, highlighting the profound connection between his personal experiences and his poetic endeavors. The narrative emphasizes the central role of language and the creative process in shaping his celebrated verse.
The production, spearheaded by Gloria Giorgianni, is a collaborative effort between Anele, Rai Documentari, and Luce Cinecittà.It benefits from contributions from Rai teche and the association of Kublai Film. Life of a Man – Giuseppe Ungaretti was initially available for preview on RaiPlay and subsequently broadcast on Rai3 on February 27th.
