After an 18-year hiatus since their last studio album, the duo Gnarls Barkley – comprised of singer-songwriter CeeLo Green and producer Danger Mouse – are set to release their third and final album, Atlanta, on March 6th via 10k Projects/Atlantic.¹ The announcement comes with the release of their new single, “Pictures.”¹²

A Return to Roots with “Pictures”

CeeLo Green describes the new single, “Pictures,” as a return to their origins, stating it represents “going back to square one” and a “full circle moment.”¹ The song draws inspiration from Green’s childhood experiences riding the MARTA public transit system in Atlanta.¹² He explains the song’s theme as capturing the feeling of life passing by while in transit, likening it to “a motion picture passing you by.”¹

From “Crazy” to ‘Atlanta’: A Look Back

Gnarls Barkley first gained widespread recognition in 2006 with their debut album, St. Elsewhere, and the hit single “Crazy,” which topped charts globally and has amassed over 1.4 billion streams on Spotify.¹ They followed up with The Odd Couple in 2008, performing 100 live shows over two years.¹

Solo Pursuits and Reunion

Following their initial success, both CeeLo Green and Danger Mouse pursued individual projects.
