Latvia’s Grand Music Award Returns to Cēsis Concert Hall with Public Ceremony

The Grand Music Award, Latvia’s highest national music award, will once again be open to the public for its presentation ceremony and celebratory concert. The event will take place on March 6, 2026, at the Cēsis Concert Hall, according to representatives from VSIA “Latvijas Koncerti.” Tickets are currently on sale.

A Prestigious Tradition

Established in 1993, the Grand Music Award recognizes outstanding achievements in Latvian music. The award ceremony honors laureates selected by a jury of music professionals who evaluate performances throughout the year. Nominees are announced at a press conference in January, with the winners revealed at the ceremony itself.

Cēsis Concert Hall as a Cultural Hub

The Cēsis Concert Hall, located in the historic city of Cēsis, serves as a central venue for musical and artistic events in Latvia. It is known for its exceptional acoustics and hosts a diverse range of performances, including symphonic, chamber, jazz, and contemporary music, as well as opera, ballet, and drama. The hall is as well home to the CELLO CĒSIS festival, the only cello festival in the Baltic and Nordic countries, and the APRIL OF PĒTERIS VASKS’ MUSIC Festival.

Minister of Culture Highlights Regional Focus

Minister of Culture Agnese Lāce emphasized the importance of holding the award ceremony outside of Riga, highlighting Latvia’s commitment to supporting high-quality cultural events throughout all regions of the country.
