The Great Outdoors Comedy Festival has abruptly cancelled its debut run in Mississauga, Ontario, just days before it was scheduled to begin at Erindale Park, according to statements from organizers and local officials.
The multi-day event was slated to run from September 11 to 13, 2026, bringing high-profile headliners including John Mulaney, Hasan Minhaj, and Fred Armisen to the University of Toronto Mississauga area. Festival organizers issued an online statement announcing the postponement without providing a specific reason for the sudden halt, stating only that their priority is to deliver the best possible festival.

Lineup and Erindale Park Preparations
The Mississauga event marked the planned final stop on the festival’s 2026 North American tour, produced by Trixstar Entertainment, which launched the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival in Edmonton in 2021. Organizers anticipated drawing roughly 12,500 attendees to each of the five scheduled outdoor shows.
Friday’s opening night lineup was set to feature John Mulaney, Stavros Halkias, Fred Armisen, and James Austin Johnson. Saturday’s bill included Adam Ray as Dr. Phil Live, Ms. Pat, T.J. Miller, Jeff Arcuri, Brad Williams, and Grace O’Malley, while Sunday’s closing roster featured Matt Mathews, Jordan Jensen, Katherine Blanford, Hasan Minhaj, Ronny Chieng, and Michael Kosta.
The City of Mississauga had already begun preparations for the large crowds. Erindale Park was scheduled to implement partial fencing starting September 6, alongside temporary parking lot closures and access restrictions that were planned to remain in place through September 16 to facilitate setup and teardown.
Ticketing and Rescheduling Details
Festival organizers stated that they are actively exploring new dates for the Mississauga performances. Ticket purchasers will be contacted directly by the production team regarding future scheduling.
“If you’ve purchased tickets, please stay tuned as we’ll be following up directly,” organizers said in their official online postponement notice. City officials had promoted the debut as an opportunity to attract visitors from across the Greater Toronto Area to local hotels and restaurants, leaving local businesses to adjust to the sudden late-stage cancellation.
