Hanna Öberg Secures Sprint Victory in Holmenkollen, Jeanmonnot Claims World Cup Title

Holmenkollen, Norway – Hanna Öberg of Sweden triumphed in the final sprint of the biathlon World Cup season, held in Holmenkollen on Thursday, March 19, 2026. Öberg finished the race with a time 5.3 seconds ahead of Italy’s Lisa Vittozzi, both athletes achieving a perfect shooting record.

Öberg’s Dominance and Elvira’s Performance

Elvira Öberg also delivered a flawless shooting performance, but a slower pace on the track resulted in a third-place finish, 20 seconds behind her sister, Hanna. This marks a strong finish for the Swedish team, with several members demonstrating exceptional shooting skills.

Anna Magnusson, Linn Gestblom, and Ella Halvarsson all recorded clean shooting performances. Anna-Karin Heijdenberg had a single miss. With a few racers still completing the course, all team members except Halvarsson currently rank within the top ten.

Jeanmonnot Wins Overall World Cup

The sprint race also confirmed Lou Jeanmonnot of France as the overall World Cup champion. She secured the title by finishing sixth, surpassing Finland’s Suvi Minkkinen, who was her closest competitor. Jeanmonnot also claimed the sprint cup title.

The biathlon World Cup season will conclude with the pursuit race on Saturday and the distance race on Sunday.
