Hong Kyung-min Finances Theater Cast Expenses Through Music Earnings
Musician and playwright Hong Kyung-min is funding out-of-pocket meal, snack, and transport expenses for actors performing in his theatrical production, newsen.com reported on November 6, 2026. Actor Shin Seung-hwan revealed the backstage financial support during an appearance on the KBS 1TV program Morning Forum.
The broadcast featured Hong alongside cast members Shin Seung-hwan, Kim Jun-hyun, and Tae Hang-ho as they promoted their new stage project, titled Carrying You. According to Shin, Hong uses earnings from his career as a pop performer—specifically referencing his active promotion of the Latin pop style associated with Ricky Martin—to subsidize the daily needs of the cast during a demanding rehearsal and performance schedule.
Shin Seung-hwan Details Triple Casting and Backstage Support
Shin explained that the production features a triple casting system for the central character of Dong-su, with himself, Kim Jun-hyun, and Tae Hang-ho sharing the role. He credited Hong’s direct financial intervention with easing the practical burdens placed on the ensemble cast.
“This person worked hard and made money as Ricky Martin, and to support these struggling theater actors, he personally covers snacks, meals, transportation, and even parking fees,” Shin stated on the program.
Hong responded to the disclosure by acknowledging the inherent difficulties faced by stage performers. “Actually, the actors work so hard while doing theater,” Hong said during the broadcast.
