The trolley bus ran with a diesel trailer converted from a field kitchen.

The transport company of the city of Hradec Králové decided to completely repair the historic Škoda 14 Tr trolleybus from 1984. It is unique in the framework of Czech urban public transport. It was the first vehicle that allowed driving outside the trolleys.

The contract for 10.6 million crowns was won by the company Zliner in the demand management. It follows from information in the register of contracts. Part of the repair will be carried out by the Transport Company of the City of Brno on its premises. “We would like to have a trolleybus ready for the 100th anniversary of public transport in Hradec Králové,” said Zdeněk Abraham, Chairman of the Board of Directors of DPMHK. According to the contract, the delivery date of the repaired trolleybus is by the end of May 2028.

At the turn of the 1980s and 1990s, the transport company was working on how to connect the local part of Kluka to the local part of Kluka after the urban ring was covered with trolley lines without the need to build approx. 1 km of trolley line and forced transfer to the bus. They devised a simple trailer with an electric generator powered by a diesel engine, which was pulled by a trolleybus. When he reached the end of the track, the driver pulled down the pick-up, started the generator, which powered the trolleybus, and continued driving.

The trailer, which was created from a former military field kitchen and a diesel engine from a tractor, also has the nickname Bernajs after Jaroslav Bernášek, the former head of trolleybus operations in Hradec Králové. It was essentially the first partial trolleybus in the Czech Republic. Today, batteries are used for the range outside the trolleys.
