i-dle to Provide Opening Theme for ‘Gals Can’t Be Kind to Otaku!?’ Anime
The K-pop group i-dle will perform the opening theme song, “HIDE AND SEEK,” for the upcoming anime adaptation of the romantic comedy manga Otaku ni Yasashii Gal wa Inai!? (Gals Can’t Be Kind to Otaku!?). The anime is scheduled to premiere on April 8, 2026, on TV Asahi in Japan.

Gals Can’t Be Kind to Otaku!? will air on the following networks and dates:
- TV Asahi: Starting April 8, 2026, every Wednesday at 11:45 AM (national network, excluding some broadcasts)
- BS Asahi: Starting April 12, 2026, every Sunday at 11:30 PM
- AT-X: Starting April 10, 2026, every Friday at 10:00 PM
About “HIDE AND SEEK” and the Anime
According to i-dle, “HIDE AND SEEK” is a “cute yet stimulating song that depicts the strength of being oneself and the girlish heart that ‘I really want you to find your true feelings’ hidden deep within your heart.” The song’s themes align with the anime’s storyline, which centers on the developing relationship between a male otaku and two gyaru (fashionable girls) who share his passion for anime.
Additional Music and Cast
Sunsoo Girl (三四少女) will provide the ending theme, “Isshou Nakako.” Additional cast members include Jun Kasama as Ijichi Genichiro, Yoshimi Kohara as Amamiya Sayu, Atsumi Tanezaki as Ijichi Sho and Emiri Kato as Ijichi Hibiki. Shō Komura will voice the main character, Takuya Seo.

The anime is being produced by TMS Entertainment’s Studio 6, with direction by Shin Mita and writing by Kazuhiko Inukai. The music is composed by Kō Satō.
Background on the Series
Gals Can’t Be Kind to Otaku!? is a manga series written by Norishiro-chan and illustrated by Sakana Uozumi. It began serialization in Coamix’s Monthly Comic Zenon in August 2021 and currently has 11 volumes. The story follows Takuya Seo, a high school student who hides his love for anime, as he discovers that two of his classmates, Kotoko Ichiji and Kei Amane, share his interests.
