Indonesia Allocates Majority of Nutrition Program Budget to Regional Distribution

Bogor, West Java – The Indonesian National Nutrition Agency (BGN) announced Saturday that 93 percent of its 2026 national nutrition program budget, totaling IDR 240 trillion, will be distributed directly to regional governments for implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG). This direct allocation aims to expedite program implementation, ensure targeted benefits, and stimulate local economies.

Direct Budget Distribution

According to BGN Head Dadan Hindayana, the total BGN budget for 2026 is IDR 268 trillion, with an additional IDR 67 trillion in reserve funds. The agency is channeling funds directly from the State Treasury Services Office (KPPN) to Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) across Indonesia as reported by Antara News.

Program Expansion and Focus

The MBG program is being expanded to include elderly citizens, in addition to its existing focus on pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, toddlers, and students as noted by the Jakarta Globe.
