From the moment I took my first steps, the same way so many first generation kids learn to walk with courage and curiosity, I knew this journey was bigger than me. My story is the story of millions. Families who crossed borders, learned new languages, built new homes, and refused to shrink themselves to make others comfortable.
Last night, Bad Bunny stood on one of the largest stages in the world, the Super Bowl Halftime Show, and reminded us of something simple yet revolutionary. America isn’t just defined by a single language, a single culture, or a single story. It’s defined by every single one of us who calls this place home.
He closed his show declaring “Together we are America,” surrounded by the flags of countries from North, Central, and South America, because the word American belongs to all of us who contribute, create, love, and thrive here.
Some people were uncomfortable with Spanish, with pride, with cultural celebration, but what they really feared was seeing how powerful our presence is when we stand tall. When we dance. When we sing. When we say “we belong.”
To every immigrant, every child of immigrants, every family doing the work of resilience, let this be a reminder.
Your story matters.
Your voice matters.
Your culture is part of this country’s tapestry.
We are here. We are America. ❤️
