Feyeroord Defeated 3-0 by Inter Milan in Champions League Clash

Feyeroord suffered a heavy 0-3 defeat against Inter Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday, leaving the Rotterdam club sitting 30th in the tournament standings with three points from four matches.

Voetbalzone reported that television Jan Mulder expressed sharp disappointment in Feyeroord’s performance, particularly targeting midfielder Gjivai Zechiël. Mulder noted that the gap in quality between the two sides was not as wide as post-match comments suggested, pointing out that Club Brugge previously won 3-1 away against the same Italian opponent.

“I didn’t expect it,” Mulder told Ziggo Sport. “The difference in strength wasn’t as big as they said afterwards. Feyeroord was too modest, almost too shy.”

Midfielder Gjivai Zechiël Draws Criticism From Analyst Jan Mulder

Mulder directed specific criticism at Zechiël, arguing that the 22-year-old playmaker has underperformed for several weeks.

“I mainly think that Gjivai Zechiël is letting it slide. Already for a few weeks,” Mulder said on Ziggo Sport, while acknowledging the player’s usual quality. “Zechiël is a very fine footballer who lifted Feyeroord. But he thinks it’s all fine right now.”

VoetbalPrimeur added context regarding Zechiël’s season, noting that the midfielder remains a regular starter under manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst and has contributed six goals and four assists across 15 appearances in all competitions this campaign. Zechiël recently signed a contract extension keeping him at De Kuip until mid-2029.

Tactical Intensity and Next Fixture for Feyeroord in De Kuip

Imke Courtois analyzed the tactical differences during the broadcast, observing that small defensive errors are punished severely at the international level.

“There was not a very big difference. But in terms of intensity,” Courtois said. “The international style of play at Inter was very different on Tuesday. Small mistakes are punished.”

Against Inter, Van Bronckhorst kept Zechiël and Oussama Targhalline on the pitch for the full 90 minutes. Meanwhile, Charles Vanhoutte endured a difficult first half and was replaced at halftime by Tobias van den Elshout.

Feyeroord will attempt to rebound in Europe when FC Porto visits De Kuip on November 24, 2026.
