Apple has officially released iOS 26.4 for iPhones, bringing a range of updates to Apple Music, Podcasts, and system features. While the anticipated improvements to Siri remain absent, the update introduces notable enhancements for users. This release follows iOS 26.3, which addressed keyboard issues experienced by some users .

Apple Music Gets AI-Powered Playlists and More

A key addition in iOS 26.4 is Playlist Playground within Apple Music. This feature leverages AI to allow users to create playlists simply by describing the desired mood, genre, or artists. The AI will then generate a playlist based on the prompt, and can also edit existing playlists . Currently, Playlist Playground is available only in the U.S. And functions on all iOS 26.4 iPhones, regardless of Apple Intelligence support.

Further enhancements to Apple Music include a Concerts feature, which helps users discover live shows from artists in their library and recommends new artists based on listening habits. Offline Music Recognition, accessible through the Control Center, allows users to identify songs even without an internet connection, displaying the results once connectivity is restored . Apple Music also features redesigned album and playlist artwork.

Accessibility and Convenience Improvements

iOS 26.4 introduces several accessibility improvements, including new toggles for enhanced user control. The update also addresses keyboard accuracy issues reported in previous versions of iOS 26. New features include the ability to mark reminders as urgent directly from the toolbar, and filter reminders by urgency.   • Privacy in Mail: Improvements to “Hide IP address” and remote content blocking enhance email privacy .
  • WebKit Security: Critical bugs in WebKit have been fixed to prevent crashes and security bypasses on fraudulent websites .

Other Notable Changes

The update introduces support for video podcasts in the Podcasts app, allowing users to switch between audio and video formats and download content for offline viewing. Freeform has gained new image creation and editing tools, along with a new content library for Creator Studio subscribers. Eight new emojis have been added to the keyboard. The update also unifies Apple account management within Apple Music and the App Store.

Availability and Compatibility

The iOS 26.4 update is available for all iPhone models from the iPhone 11 onwards . IPadOS 26.4 has also been released for compatible iPad models. Users can update their devices through the Settings app by navigating to General > Software Update.

What About Siri?

Despite expectations, the promised Siri upgrade did not arrive with iOS 26.4. The timing of a more substantial AI-powered Siri experience remains uncertain, with speculation pointing towards iOS 27 .
