Andrea Franceschetti, a 52-year-old Italian and Latin teacher at the Sansepolcro scientific high school in Arezzo, has turned eight centuries of national literature into a trap song titled “200-900” to welcome students for the 2026–2027 academic year. According to reporting by the Italian news agency ANSA, the cultural organizer known locally as “Djprof” designed the track to bridge classical poetry and modern youth culture across the Upper Tiber Valley between Umbria and Tuscany.
Transforming Classical Literature Into Trap Music
The song covers eight centuries of literary history, beginning with Saint Francis of Assisi and Giacomo da Lentini before moving through works by Cecco Angiolieri, Guido Guinizzelli, Torquato Tasso, Ludovico Ariosto, Ugo Foscolo, Umberto Saba, and Salvatore Quasimodo. According to Franceschetti’s interview with ANSA, the lyrics interweave canonical lines with contemporary phrasing, quoting works like Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy alongside original verses. “I want to make kids feel that our poets can become the authors of the songs they love,” Franceschetti told ANSA.
The release coincides with the eighth centenary of the death of Saint Francis. Franceschetti noted to ANSA that the medieval figure serves as the foundational starting point for Italian literature, blending religious components with the laic traditions of the Sicilian school initiated by Giacomo da Lentini. The teacher argues that modern education must adopt new teaching strategies without sacrificing core literary content, aiming to match how students communicate.
Classroom Strategy and Modern Youth Culture
Franceschetti defends contemporary teenagers against frequent cultural criticisms, telling ANSA that the generation possesses enormous potential and that schools must function as spaces for communal learning. Addressing broader societal issues such as bullying and classroom conflicts, the teacher observed via ANSA that hostile behaviors originate outside school grounds, requiring a broader societal response to restore proper conduct.
Set for broadcast during the first school bell of the academic calendar, “200-900” treats September as a springtime start for incoming 14-to-19-year-old students. “Being a teacher means living a dream,” Franceschetti told ANSA, emphasizing that utilizing music allows educators to speak the language of their students while honoring the historical bond between poetry and song.
