Jordan Subpoenas Jack Smith in Trump Prosecutions Probe

Washington – Republican Rep. Jim Jordan, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, subpoenaed former special counsel Jack Smith Wednesday. This action is part of the committee’s examination into the federal prosecutions of President Trump.

jordan detailed his request in a letter to Smith and his legal team. He wants Smith to testify at a closed-door deposition on December 17 and provide documents by December 12. It’s currently unknown exactly which records Jordan, representing Ohio’s congressional district, is seeking.

“The Committee on the Judiciary is continuing to oversee the operations of the Office of Special Counsel you led – specifically, your team’s prosecutions of President Donald J. Trump and his co-defendants,” jordan wrote. “Your service as Special Counsel means you possess information vital to our oversight of this matter.”

Peter Koski, Smith’s attorney, signaled that the former special counsel will comply with the subpoena. Koski also mentioned that Smith had offered to testify publicly before Congress.
