Man Posing as Police Officer Arrested in East Jakarta Gas Station Assault
Jakarta – Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the assault of three employees at a gas station in Cipinang, Pulogadung, East Jakarta. The perpetrator allegedly posed as a police officer during the incident.
Details of the Incident
The assault occurred on Sunday evening, February 22, 2026, at the 3413901 petrol station in Cipinang. The incident began when a man attempted to fill his vehicle with Pertalite, but the gas station attendant refused service because the vehicle’s license plate did not match its intended use Jakarta (ANTARA).
According to witnesses, the man became angry when informed that he could not purchase fuel. He initially argued with the attendant, then physically assaulted him. When a colleague attempted to intervene, he was also attacked. A third employee was subsequently assaulted during the escalating altercation, which lasted approximately an hour, from 10:00 PM to 11:30 PM Jakarta (ANTARA).
Investigation and Arrest
The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the East Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Dicky Fertoffan, confirmed the arrest of one suspect VOI and Kompas.id. He stated that the suspect claimed to be a police officer and that the vehicle he was driving was reportedly owned by a police general Kompas.id.
