Jimmy (James) Morris, a prominent figure in Irish Gaelic games and Life President of Nenagh Éire Óg GAA Club, passed away peacefully at Nenagh Hospital on March 20, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was 96 years classic.
A Lifetime of Dedication to GAA
Morris dedicated decades to the Nenagh Éire Óg GAA Club, becoming a beloved and respected leader within the organization. His commitment and passion for the sport earned him the honorary title of Life President.
Early Life and Family
Born in Drumnahane, Borrisokane, and later residing in Annbrook, Nenagh, Morris was predeceased by his wife, Nonie (nee Whelan), and daughters Monica, Jane, and Patricia. He is also remembered by his granddaughter Sorcha, daughter-in-law Bernie, and siblings Willie, Sean, Joe, and Martin.
Surviving Family
Morris is survived by his children Marian, Martin, Con, Bernadette, Séamie, Ger, and Martina. He is also fondly remembered by his siblings Peter, Mary, Theresa, Noel, and Mick, Marian’s partner Tom, daughters-in-law Denise and Margaret, son-in-law Paudge, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandson Billy, as well as extended family, relatives, neighbors, and friends.
Funeral Arrangements
Reposing will grab place on Sunday, March 22nd, at the Nenagh Eire Óg Complex (E45 HY06) from 4pm to 7pm. The Funeral Mass will be held on Monday at St. Mary of the Rosary Church, Nenagh (E45 YH29) at 12 noon, followed by burial in Lisboney Cemetery. A webstream of the Funeral Mass will be available.
Recognition of Care
The family has expressed their gratitude for the exceptional care provided to Jimmy by the staff of Nenagh Hospital, the EDU of University Hospital Limerick, and Sue Ryder House, which became a comforting home for him. The family requests privacy at their home during this time.
