John Cena Returns to Raw to Announce December 14 Tournament Date at Disney World

The first-ever John Cena Classic will take place on December 14 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World in Orlando, f4wonline.com reported. John Cena made his first appearance on “Monday Night Raw” since his retirement tour ended, addressing the crowd at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn to unveil the tournament details.

Two Episodes of Raw Scheduled for a Single Day

The December 14 event brings a historic scheduling first for World Wrestling Entertainment. The company will air two episodes of “Monday Night Raw” on the same day, with one broadcast originating from Perth, Australia, and the second taking place in Orlando where the tournament will unfold, according to f4wonline.com.

Cody Rhodes Receives the First Official Tournament Invitation

During his return segment, Cena unveiled the John Cena Classic Championship, featuring a design similar to the spinner title he held during the mid-2000s. Cena then issued the tournament’s first official invitation to Cody Rhodes. Fox News reported that Cena and Rhodes spent much of 2025 as adversaries, culminating in Cena defeating Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 before Rhodes regained the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam.

“This event is everything you are,” Cena told Rhodes on the broadcast, according to Fox News. “Everything you stand for. I love you, bud. And I’m so glad to officially invite you to the John Cena Classic.”

Fan Voting Restricted to Club WWE Subscribers

Yahoo Sports reported that voting for the tournament will live entirely within Club WWE, the promotion’s fan-focused subscription platform. Because Club WWE requires a paid membership, participation in the voting aspect of the event will be limited to subscribers.

Cena Plans Survivor Series Appearance to Stack Tournament Field

Cena stated that he plans to appear at Survivor Series on November 28 to ensure the tournament field is fully stacked with talent, f4wonline.com reported. While tournament formats have not been officially finalized, Cena has previously indicated that the bracket will feature competitors from both the NXT and WWE main rosters. Randy Orton interrupted the segment, leading Cena to exit the ring as Orton and Rhodes continued building toward their last man standing match at Crown Jewel.
