Divine Liturgy and Sisterhood Consecrations at the Church-on-the-Blood

On Sunday morning, November 1, 2026, the Church-on-the-Blood in Yekaterinburg hosted a Divine Liturgy bringing together sisters of mercy from 15 sisterhoods of the Yekaterinburg diocese. The gathering observed the feast day of the holy martyr Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna.

During the solemn services, 25 sisters received blessings for their ministry with the ceremonial placement of apostoliks—headwear symbolizing humility and service to others.

Ministry Ranks and Wartime Humanitarian Awards

The morning ceremony included formal consecrations and advancements. Four members of the Orthodox Mercy Service—Olga Mezenova, Olga Druzhinina, Lilia Lyzhina, and Olga Ostroverkhova—earned the right to wear the veil with a cross; Alla Grigoryeva, Tamara Kalitova, and Ulyana Muratova received the right to wear the veil without a cross; and Lyubov Antropova received a candidate’s headscarf.

Members serving at the hospital church of the holy martyrs Faith, Hope, Love, and their mother Sophia received distinct honors. Elena Sigueva and Elena Kharina received pure white apostoliks, while Olga Drugova, Inga Deminkova, and Galina Kazmina completed their second stage of consecration and received apostoliks featuring a cross.

Awards were presented to sisters who traveled to hospitals and carried out service in the zone of the special military operation. Recipients included Daria Baldina, Anna Elsukova, Tatyana Yurevich, and Tatyana Ananyina.

Spiritual Reflections and Ongoing Service Traditions

Following the Liturgy, the sisters gathered in the hall of the Church-on-the-Blood for a discussion with Archpriest Yevgeny Popichenko and Archpriest Igor Bachinin. Father Yevgeny encouraged the newly consecrated sisters to discover the Heavenly Kingdom within themselves, while Father Igor reminded attendees to maintain spiritual joy.

Senior sisters shared observations regarding the ministry. Irina Sapogova, senior sister of the sisterhood in the name of the holy passion-bearer Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna, noted that the gathering creates a sense of unity and shared grace. Similar regional liturgies have marked the calendar in prior years, including a November 2, 2024 service at the same church that drew representatives from 10 sisterhoods.
