K-Pop Forever! Tribute Indicate Sparks Debate Over Appropriateness and Quality

A K-Pop tribute concert, K-Pop Forever!, has ignited a social media backlash following its opening performance at the SSE Arena in Belfast on Thursday, February 19, 2026. Although promoter Aiken Promotions defends the show as a genre tribute, some parents have voiced concerns over the performances being “inappropriate” for children.

Parental Concerns and Complaints

Attendees took to social media to express their frustration, with some describing sections of the show as “raunchy.” One parent, Caroline McGrath, who attended with her seven-year-old daughter, told BBC Radio Ulster’s Evening Extra that while they had a “great time,” some parts of the performance were unexpected and potentially unsuitable for young children. She specifically mentioned unfamiliar songs and choreography that her friend’s daughter found inappropriate. Another parent who attended with her two daughters told RTÉ Radio 1’s Liveline that the show was “terrible” and should have been age-restricted.

Aiken Promotions’ Response

Aiken Promotions and the SSE Arena released a statement acknowledging the feedback received. They stated that while the majority of customers enjoyed the show, they understood it wasn’t what some expected. They maintained that the show delivered “an arena-standard tribute to the entire K-Pop genre.” In a subsequent statement, Aiken Promotions said they take “all customer feedback seriously.” They clarified that the show features content inspired by the film K-Pop Demon Hunters, alongside songs from popular K-Pop groups like BTS, Blackpink, Twice, Soda Pop, and Golden, including eight hits from Demon Hunters such as ‘Golden’, ‘Takedown’ and ‘Soda Pop’.

Show Details and Tour Dates

The K-Pop Forever! tribute show features all-live performances and choreography, aiming to capture the energy of the K-Pop genre. The show is currently touring Ireland, with sold-out performances scheduled at the 3Arena in Dublin (March 9, 10, and 11, 2026), Leisureland in Galway, and Gleneagle Arena in Kerry. Additional performances are scheduled for May 16, 2026, at the SSE Arena Belfast, and June 10 and 11, 2026, at Live at the Marquee in Cork. The show also features special guests, The KK Sisters, a TikTok singing duo.

Genre Tribute vs. Specific Act Recreation

Some attendees defended the show, arguing that complaints stemmed from a misunderstanding of its intent. They pointed out that the show was advertised as a tribute to the K-Pop genre as a whole, rather than a specific recreation of the K-Pop Demon Hunters film. One attendee stated that the dancing, music, and atmosphere were fitting for a K-Pop tribute performance.
