Kendji Girac Surprises Rennes with €1 Concert, Organized as a Viral Prank
Kendji Girac, the French singer-songwriter, recently performed an intimate concert for a handful of fans in Rennes, France, with tickets priced at just €1. The unexpected performance was part of a viral prank orchestrated by YouTuber Vince des Inachevés, reminiscent of similar surprise concerts by artists like Ed Sheeran.
A Concert Disguised as a Potential Scam
The event unfolded at the L’Uzine bar in Rennes, where a simple poster advertising “Kendji Girac en concert, entrée 1 euro” (Kendji Girac in concert, entry 1 euro) was displayed. Many passersby initially suspected a hoax, a look-alike, or a scam, hesitant to believe the incredibly low ticket price. Those who ventured inside were led to the bar’s basement, where they were offered the chance to attend the show for a symbolic euro.
Intimate Performance for Small Groups
Small groups of four or five spectators were then treated to an exclusive, almost confidential concert. A red curtain separated the audience from Girac before being drawn back to reveal the singer performing songs like “Andalouse” and “Les Yeux de la Mama.” The atmosphere was described as a “privilege” by one attendee, according to reports.
Inspired by Ed Sheeran’s Surprise Concerts
The stunt draws inspiration from a similar event ten years prior, where Ed Sheeran performed an unannounced concert in a New York City subway station for a small audience, charging just a few dollars. BFMTV reports that the video of Sheeran’s performance has garnered over ten million views on YouTube.
Kendji Girac Continues Tour and Autobiography Promotion
This surprise concert in Rennes is part of Kendji Girac’s ongoing tour celebrating ten years of his career, which has included sold-out performances at Zéniths across France. He is scheduled to perform at the Accor Arena in Paris on March 14th and 15th, 2026, and will continue touring throughout France until June. BFMTV also notes that Girac recently released his autobiography, “Mi vida,” in September.
Viral Success on TikTok
A video of the Rennes concert, shared on February 14th by Vince des Inachevés, has already amassed 1.6 million views on TikTok, demonstrating the event’s viral appeal. Daily8 covered the event, highlighting the initial skepticism of those who attended.
