Konami is refocusing heavily on its classic intellectual properties, confirming that major reboots for franchises like Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Castlevania, and Suikoden are vital pillars of its business model. According to an interview with Nikkei Gaming by company president Hideki Hayakawa, the Japanese publisher plans to balance these high-profile revivals with entirely new creative works and genres.

The revival strategy encompasses several core franchises that defined Konami’s legacy during previous console generations. Instead, the company views them as fundamental business pillars designed to bring back dormant universes.

This shift marks a distinct change from Konami’s previous generation focus. The publisher spent years prioritizing mobile titles and pachinko machines during the PS4 and Xbox One eras. Since 2022, however, the company has steadily returned to traditional video game development, often collaborating with external studios to handle its major licenses.

Current Release Lineup and New IP Additions

Alongside long-term franchise revivals, Konami’s immediate production schedule features a mix of ongoing sports titles, mobile games, and brand-new intellectual properties. According to Hideki Hayakawa’s interview with Nikkei Gaming, the upcoming launch calendar includes:

  • Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse: Scheduled for release on October 15, representing the next major gaming step for the vampire-hunting franchise.
  • Rev. NOiR: A brand-new console RPG announced in February, which Konami plans to launch worldwide.
  • Suikoden STAR LEAP: A mobile entry that opened its pre-registration period on July 1, 2026.
  • Ongoing Sports and Trading Card Titles: Continuous updates for eFootball, eBaseball: PRO SPIRITS, Powerful Pro Baseball, and the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME.

The Future of Metal Gear and Silent Hill Without Original Creators

While Silent Hill has seen a steady stream of new projects—including the recent Silent Hill 2 Remake, Silent Hill f, and the upcoming Silent Hill Townfall—the path forward for Metal Gear raises complex questions for fans. Hideo Kojima, the creator of the stealth-action epic, is not involved in Konami’s current initiatives.

Hayakawa emphasized that while reviving established worlds is essential, the publisher maintains a strong desire to invent brand-new genres and original works. Whether these efforts translate into entirely unprecedented adventures for Snake, Simon Belmont, or the Suikoden universe remains to be seen as Konami rolls out its upcoming slate.
