14th International Latgale Graphic Art Symposium to Showcase Contemporary Printmaking in Latvia

Daugavpils, Latvia – The Rothko Museum will host the 14th International Latgale Graphic Art Symposium from February 23 to March 8, 2026, bringing together ten professional graphic artists from around the globe. The symposium, a significant event in the international graphic art scene, will culminate in a public exhibition on March 7, 2026, showcasing the artworks created during the two-week residency.

A Vibrant Forum for Graphic Arts

The International Latgale Graphic Art Symposium, organized by the SIVIA Association within the Rothko Museum’s residency framework, has been a pivotal platform for graphic artists since its inception in 2013. Over the years, it has fostered a network of over one hundred artists from nearly forty countries, revitalizing printmaking in Daugavpils and boosting the international profile of the Latgale region. Rothko Museum states the symposium continues to promote networking and exchange of experience among graphic arts professionals.

Participating Artists

The participating artists for the 2026 symposium include Alessandro Cugno (Italy), John Graham (Canada), Kamila Bednarska and Katarzyna Tereszkiewic (Poland), Kateryna Svirgunenko and Valentina Ariepieva (Ukraine), Kethavath Vijay (India), Nida Shah (Lithuania), and Ināra Garklāva (Latvia).

Symposium Program and Public Events

In addition to the artists’ studio work, the symposium program includes public events. On February 27, 2026, at 4:00 PM, the Rothko Museum will host presentations by the participating artists, offering insights into their creative practices and professional experiences. The symposium will conclude with an exhibition opening on March 7, 2026, at 4:00 PM, displaying the artworks produced during the residency. Both events are free and open to the public.

Support and Logistics

The symposium provides participating artists with catering and accommodation in Daugavpils, studio space (which may be shared), basic materials and tools, publicity, and guided tours of local art and culture institutions. Artists are responsible for their travel costs and any specific materials or tools they require. Participants are also asked to donate at least two artworks created during the symposium to the Rothko Museum.

Application Information

Professional artists interested in participating in the 14th International Latgale Graphic Art Symposium must submit an application, including an application form, CV, and visuals, by 24:00 on January 2, 2026. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered. Selected participants will be notified after January 7, 2026. The application form can be found here.
