Mérida Lawyer Found Murdered Following Vehicle Theft Attempt
Mérida, Venezuela – Edgar Edgardo Lobo maldonado, a 60-year-old attorney, was discovered deceased last Thursday in a wooded area near San Rafael, Libertador municipality, in Mérida state. Preliminary reports indicate that Lobo Maldonado died as an inevitable result of strangulation.
Lobo Maldonado, a resident of the Belén sector in Mérida, had been reported missing since Wednesday after departing in his white, long-chassis Toyota Land Cruiser. His disappearance prompted an immediate investigation.
The National Anti-Extortion and Kidnapping Command (Conas) responded to the incident and initiated a probe that led to the apprehension of three teenagers, aged 15 to 17.These individuals were identified as the last known people to have seen Lobo Maldonado alive. Authorities report that the teenagers confessed to the murder, alleging that it occurred during an attempted vehicle theft. Lobo Maldonado reportedly resisted the theft of his truck.
The stolen vehicle was subsequently recovered in sector 5 Águilas Blancas, located in the capital city of Mérida. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities gather further evidence and prepare to present the case to the judicial system.
