Entr’ACT Returns to Bas-en-Basset: A Celebration of Family and Amateur Theater
From May 27 to June 7, the Théâtre du Marais will transform into a hub of creativity for the 22nd edition of Entr’ACT. Organized by the association ACT, this cornerstone of amateur theater features eight distinct productions created by the association’s own workshops. Designed for all audiences, the festival offers an eclectic program that blends humor, emotion, and social commentary.
Entr’ACT remains one of the few cultural events where multiple generations converge. It’s a space where children, parents, and grandparents share the same room and the same emotional experiences, celebrating the raw and inclusive nature of community theater.
A Diverse Program for Every Age
The programming for this edition is intentionally varied, ensuring there’s something for everyone. The younger performers bring magic and mystery to the stage with stories involving a magic chest, a hunt for thieves, and the enigma of a countess’s tea. Middle school students take a more philosophical turn, stepping up to defend the wolf.
Beyond the whimsical, the festival doesn’t shy away from complex contemporary issues. Several productions dive into social themes, including feminism and transidentity, exploring how these identities manifest in both professional sports and daily life.
Event Highlights and Special Sessions
The festival extends beyond traditional evening performances, offering specialized events designed to engage the local community:
- Public Rehearsal: The festivities kick off on Wednesday, May 27, at 3:30 p.m. At the Bas-en-Basset médiathèque.
- Intergenerational Performance: On Wednesday, June 3, at 2:30 p.m., a special session welcomes seniors over 65 and visitors from leisure centers. This performance includes a complimentary snack and a dedicated time for the audience to exchange thoughts with the young actors.
- Educational Outreach: Thursday, June 4, is reserved exclusively for the schools within the commune.
- The Actors’ Picnic: The festival concludes on Sunday, June 7. Starting at 10:00 a.m. In the public garden, the event features improvisation games open to everyone, followed by a collaborative buffet at noon that brings together artists, families, and the general public.
