Toronto Maple Leafs fans on social media speculated that Auston Matthews‘ injury will be the main topic when GM Brad Treliving addresses the press on Tuesday.

The Leafs are 8-9-2 and on a five-game losing streak, with questions swirling about head coach Craig Berube’s job security and the overall direction of the team under Treliving.
To make matters worse, Auston Matthews sustained a lower-body injury last week against the Boston Bruins. Berube said Matthews has not yet returned to the ice, raising concerns among fans.
Thus, fans speculated that Matthews’ injury would be the primary focus of treliving’s press conference.”Sounds like Matthews is done for the season?” one fan chimed in.

“Matthews is out for the season,” another fan said.Another chimed in:
“We believe in the group. Injuries have played a factor. Lots of new faces trying to adjust. Saved Brad some time.”

Here are some of the other top reactions on X:

“unless its a trade tell him. To kick rocks. Don’t need to hear about the injuries excuses and we are always looking to improve quotes. Let’s see some actions or get lost,” a third fan wrote.

“Either he’s gonna say nothing’s changing or we’re gonna find out Matthews succumbed to his stomach flu two years ago and that the 34 we’ve been watching was just some guy thay pulled off the street. No in-between,” one X user said.
