Learjet 60 Crashes in Greenacres, Florida After Plunging From 35,000 Feet

A business jet crashed in Greenacres, Florida, on November 1, 2026, forcing the evacuation of approximately 600 residents from a nearby mobile home park and closing local roads for at least a month, tv3.lv reported.

The Federal Aviation Administration stated that the Learjet 60 departed from Austin, Texas, bound for the Bahamas. Air traffic control recordings captured the pilot reporting moderate turbulence and icing on the aircraft shortly before the disaster. Seconds later, the cockpit crew reported that the plane was losing altitude at roughly 3,000 meters per minute, declaring an emergency as the aircraft exceeded safe speeds during a steep descent. The final transmission from the cockpit was, “We no longer have time.”

Unofficial flight tracking data cited by tv3.lv indicated that the Learjet plummeted nearly vertically from above 35,000 feet. Unverified video footage published on social media shows the aircraft plunging almost vertically into a residential area before exploding into a large fireball.

Local officials confirmed that no injuries on the ground were reported, though the impact damaged local infrastructure, including water supply pipes. NRA reported that the Palm Beach County crash left a crater in the roadway, with fires burning and debris scattered across the street. While tv3.lv identified the aircraft as a Learjet 60, NRA noted that early open-source intelligence reports initially listed the exact aircraft type and casualty count as unconfirmed during the immediate aftermath.

Evacuations and Infrastructure Impact in Palm Beach County

The crash site in Palm Beach County featured a large crater in the middle of the road, active fires, and scattered aircraft debris, according to tv3.lv. Local authorities ordered the evacuation of about 600 people from an adjacent trailer park as emergency crews responded to the wreckage.

The impact severely disrupted local infrastructure, specifically damaging water supply pipes in the vicinity. Officials estimated that the damaged roadway will remain closed to traffic for at least 30 days while municipal and federal teams conduct repairs and investigations.
