South Korean Athlete Lee Seung-hoo Secures Bronze at 2026 Para-Badminton World Championships

Manama, Bahrain – South Korean para-badminton player Lee Seung-hoo has won a bronze medal at the 2026 BWF Para-Badminton World Championships, held in Manama, Bahrain, from February 8th to 14th, 2026. Lee, competing in the SL3 & SL4 doubles event, achieved this victory alongside his partner Jonathan (Seoul Medical Center).

Rising Star in Para-Badminton

Lee Seung-hoo’s journey to the national team began with a transfer to Gwangju Wolbong Middle School, driven by his ambition to represent South Korea in para-badminton. He has since dedicated himself to rigorous training at both the Gwangju Public Sports Club for the Disabled and Dong-gu Sports Club.

His dedication led to his selection as a new disabled badminton player in 2024, and at just 15 years classic, he was chosen as the youngest member of the national team. He immediately made an impact, winning a gold medal in his debut international competition.

Recent Achievements

Prior to the World Championships, Lee gained valuable experience through participation in numerous domestic and international tournaments. In 2023, he secured a gold medal in SL3 men’s singles and silver medals in both SL3 and SL4 men’s doubles at the 45th National Sports Festival for the Disabled.

Bahrain Hosts Historic Championship

The 2026 BWF Para-Badminton World Championships marked a significant milestone as the first time the event has been held in the Middle East.
