Barcelona’s former star player, Robert Lewandowski, currently playing for Fenerbahçe, recently addressed his future plans in a podcast appearance. The Polish striker, whose contract with Barcelona is set to expire at the end of the current season, indicated he is not yet focused on making a decision about his next club.
Current Situation and Focus
Lewandowski acknowledged a somewhat challenging start to the season, citing injuries that impacted his rhythm. He stated his current priority is maintaining his fitness and contributing to Fenerbahçe’s success. “I had a difficult start to the season, I had two injuries and it was difficult for me to get into a rhythm. So, knowing how many games we have ahead of us, I am paying attention to the preparations for the rest of the season, so that I do not have health problems and can give my best,” he said.
He also clarified that he is not actively engaged in discussions with his manager regarding his future. “I don’t talk to my manager about this either. Why should I talk? There is still time. Maybe I’ll start after a while,” Lewandowski explained.
Open to a barcelona Return
Despite his current position with Fenerbahçe, Lewandowski expressed continued respect for Barcelona and left the door open to a potential return. He dismissed reports of Barcelona proposing a significant salary reduction.”There is no such thing as Barcelona cutting my salary in half,” he stated.
He emphasized that his decision will depend on both the club’s plans and his own feelings. “My future largely depends on the club’s plan and my wishes. Right now, I can’t say “yes”, but if they come I will definitely say yes. I have great respect for Barcelona. I know what kind of club they are, so I tried to help by instilling a hard work mentality.” He also expressed enjoyment in his current form and the team’s winning streak.
Prioritizing Feeling Over Planning
Lewandowski highlighted a shift in his approach to contract negotiations as he ages. “I still have some time. I don’t know where I want to play right now. There’s no need to think about that yet… but I need to feel it now. and I haven’t felt it yet,” he said. he contrasted this with his younger years, stating, “If I were 30 or 26, I’d want to know in advance where I’ll be next season.”
Looking Ahead
As Lewandowski continues to play for Fenerbahçe, his future remains uncertain. He is prioritizing his current form and fitness while remaining open to possibilities, notably a return to Barcelona if the circumstances are right. The coming months will likely provide more clarity as he evaluates his options and assesses potential offers.
