LG CNS Completes Jakarta AI Data Center in Indonesia

LG CNS completed construction of a 30MW-class hyperscale artificial intelligence data center in Jakarta, Indonesia. The facility is the first AI data center directly designed and built by a Korean company for an overseas local client, according to LG CNS.

Project Commissioning by KMG and Regional Expansion Plans

The Jakarta project was commissioned last year by KMG, a joint venture between Indonesia’s Sinar Mas Group and Korea Investment Real Asset Management. Following the completion ceremony on Nov. 1, LG CNS plans to expand its AI data center business across the Asia Pacific region, targeting markets in Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and Japan. The company also intends to scale the Jakarta facility’s total receiving power capacity up to 400MW in follow-up construction phases.

Hybrid Cooling and High-Density Power Infrastructure

The facility features a hybrid cooling structure designed to manage the high heat output generated by AI servers. In the initial phase, the center utilizes an air-cooling system based on an air-circulation method, with plans to integrate a liquid-cooling system in future phases to optimize graphics processing unit temperature control. The power system supports a high-density environment exceeding 300kW per rack, roughly 60 times that of a typical data center rack, and includes power infrastructure redundancy for continuous 24-hour operation.

Business Model Diversification and Future AI Factory Operations

LG CNS is broadening its operational portfolio alongside the Jakarta deployment. The company is expanding into prefabricated modular data centers, subscription-based GPU services known as GPUaaS, and liquid-cooling infrastructure. Hyun Shin-gyoon, CEO of LG CNS, stated that the completion demonstrates global market competitiveness by providing overseas customers with the data center capabilities accumulated in Korea, with plans to further develop these systems into an AI Factory business linked with AI platforms and services.
